Lateness

Hey Bookworms,

I can't believe my lack of posting. Personal stuff came up and, before you know it, two months go by with almost no posts. I even didn't get a new release post together for December (then again, I haven't found any books for this month either. Strange). Well, that is going to change. I am getting ready to get back to posting reviews and sharing book information on here so I hope you all get to hear about some great reads soon.

Since I haven't found any book releasing in December and today is the first, I am planning on putting together a list of Christmas books that might be a good read this month for the holidays. I will be trying to get that up either later today or tomorrow.

Also, since I have missed how many Sunday reviews now (don't answer that), I will be working on and posting a review tomorrow. It might be a bit "beastly" but I hope you will also find some "beauty" to it too (get the hints?).

Within the coming weeks, there will also be some reviews of some great non-fiction titles so check back soon and chew on a good book today!

Back to the Future Day!

Great Scott! Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and Jennifer fly into the future, October 21, 2015, today at precisely 4:29 PM. I have been enjoying the day by sharing stuff on my Facebook account and even found this video of Doc Brown sending out a little message for everyone today.

Isn't that cool. It also sums up the great story that is Back to the Future. Speaking of stories, one you can get today, was just released, is the comic book on how Doc and Marty met and some other great stuff. It is published by IDW publishers and written by Bob Gale, the original writer and creator of the trilogy.

Awesome right? While I'm still waiting on flying cars, self sizing clothes, and trials that take two hours to complete, I don't have to wait for this. If, you are looking for more of a... book... type of read, maybe We Don't Need Roads: The Making of the Back to the Future Trilogy is what you are looking for. A behind the scenes look at the making of the movies. This is heavy.

So I suggest making like a tree and getting out'a to your local book, or comic book, store. Or newsstand apparently. Still looking for this one myself.

While this does not cover all that is available on the Back to the Future trilogy, it is some good stuff.

Working on Reading

So frustrated!

I have been such a bad reader this semester. One, I haven't read too many books that have interested me and, two, I just haven't had much time to read because of school. So, I have not been taking care of this blog like I would like. But, I am reading some good books so here are my impressions so far on them:

Elisha's Bones by Don Hoesel: Good storyline but a little slow. Also, this is in first person where as the second book, Serpent of Moses, which I read first, was in third so that is new.

Never Have I Ever: My Life (So Far) Without a Date by Katie Heaney: A funny autobiography of a woman's journey of the dating world and not getting a boyfriend. I find this funny and witty and at times kind of sacrilegious on some religious aspects. Release date: January 14, 2014

And, I'm looking forward to read:

Cloak of the Light by Chuck Black: I read this author's Kingdom series which were good (read them if you are interested). So, this should be a good book as well. Release date: March 18, 2014

So, no definitive opinion on these books but I have high hopes. Some other good books are becoming available soon so I hope to get my reading back on track. But all of you keep reading and, if you have any recommendations, let me know. Thanks.

Appreciate a Dragon Day, Jan 16

Appreciate a Dragon Day is on January 16 and dragons are one of my favorite mythical creatures. I don't know why that is but they are. I personally want to appreciate a dragon I created for a book I'm working on. His name is Taran. Green with silver spikes, bat-like wings, and light blue eyes, he's shy but loyal. He harbors a secret that he fears will make him less of a dragon in other's eyes but when it comes to choosing between keeping this secret and loosing his friend, he will have to find the courage to open up.

Late Post... Again :(

Welcome to Bookworm,

So sorry that my review is late once again. Finals and Christmas are catching up with me and keeping me from being very faithful to my reviews at the moment. But, finals are over and will have bit of a break until it starts up again so I should be able to prepare some reviews during this time.

At least one other Christmas review is coming up, one that was fun and I hope you like it. It is a children's book and depicts the creation of the nativity scene.

Still working on giveaways. I believe I have one planned for January (need to double check) and am thinking about hosting another at the same time. Still making decisions so any suggestions are welcome.

Some Great Books Being Released in 2013

Another week where there isn't a review. This is just not my month. School is nuts and I just haven't been reading like I usually do. I have been reading a devotional which I'm making good progress in and I have the next book ordered for a coming up giveaway, more on that in a week maybe.

So, instead of a review, I thought I would post some covers of some upcoming books that I'm excited about. A couple weeks ago, I shared what I believed was the next CHAOS book by Jon S. Lewis. Now it is stated that it is book 3 and has a synopsis on its Amazon Page! Yay! Wonderful series and can't wait to see how it all come together. Found cover on Amazon along with a projected release date; April 16, 2013.

 

The next is from an author I discovered this year. I read Serpent of Moses by Don Hoesel and that was it. Great read, fabulous storyline and character. So when I saw this cover, I knew I had to read it. This book does have a synopsis on its Amazon Page and I felt that this time I would have to read Elisha's Bones (kinda book 1 of this group) before this one. I haven't so what do I do? Order the book along with a recent order and will hopefully read it before July 1, 2013 (the projected release date as stated on Amazon).

Last week, I reviewed Tracy Higley's Isle of Shadows which was a great ancient mystery, coming of faith, and love story. I have also read her book Petra: City in Stone which is also a high recommendation. So here is the cover of her next book, So Shines the Night, which I found on its Amazon Page along with a synopsis. Another one I am sure to fall for and will impatiently waiting to read. Projected release date is March 12, 2013.

 

If you have been reading R. J Larson's Books of the Infinite, book 1 being Prophet and book 2, Judge, just out, you will probably be excited to see book 3's, King, cover! What I like so far is that it is fantasy yet reminds me of Old Testament prophets. Good series so far. Projected release; July 1, 2013.

 

 

And, of course, I have tell of Jill Williamson's new book, a dystopia, coming out next year on February 19! She is one of my favorite authors so this is definitely a book to get. Read the synopsis on its Amazon Page. 

 

For a final book reveal, how about an author who is making his debut on April 16, 2013? This takes place during King Aurthur's time and is a take on the Merlin stories! Everyone, Robert Treskillard and his book, Merlin's Blade, book 1 in the Merlin Spiral!

 

 Aren't all these just wonderful covers?! Next year is bring out some great books announced here and not. There are others I am anticipating but I just haven't heard too much about them yet. If you know of any that wasn't mentioned here, feel free to leave a comment, I'm always looking for good reads no matter how much my 'To-Read' shelf is over flowing. :) Hope this brightens your day a bit. UPDATE - 12-03

Found a couple more good covers. Here is the last of the young adult dystopia, book 1 and 2 Swipe and Sneak, by Evan Angler. Storm's cover is great, and purple (nice color) and looks very exciting which was promised from the last book. The projected release date is May 7, 2013.

What list is complete without the third book in The Quest of Truth series by Brock Eastman, Unleash, releasing on June 14, 2013. The previous two books, Taken and Risk, were great and full of adventure. Book three looks just as wonderful and action filled, can't wait to see what else happens and how the story grows in its mystery of man's origins.

Just found this one today. The next book in the Helium-3 books, Crescent, by Homer Hickam, Jr. This series is like a dystopia but takes place on the moon. The first book, Crater, was pretty good and this one sounds interesting and the cover is cool. The book is scheduled to come out June 4, 2013.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Was surprised with this one. I whole heartily enjoyed Krista McGee's book, First Date, and so when I found this one I was excited. Anomaly sounds like a dystopia dealing with some genetics. Her books are usually contemporary but this sounds great and I am falling in love with dystopia. July 9, 2013 is the projected release date.

Will have to get each and every one of them and will review all of them (hopefully also a couple of giveaways containing these books). Extra! Extra!

Was just wondering around on Amazon and guess what I saw... A new CHAOS Novel cover!

I know! This is so cool. I have enjoyed the first two books of this series and can't wait to read this. I am assuming it is book three because I haven't seen it before (and I have looked) and it doesn't say "Book 3" on amazon. Hope to learn more but it might be a while if amazon's projected release date it true (April 16, 2012). Anyway, wanted to share the cover and what have I have learned about it so far. Unfortunately, no review will be published today because I'm behind in my reading with school keeping me busy as well as other life stuff. But, some good stuff is being worked on.

Currently, I am reading Isle of Shadows by Tracy Higley and A Hobbit Devotional by Ed Strauss as well as a few others (take a look at the side bar for a list of books I'm in the middle of, a few I am reading more dedicatedly than others at the moment). The month of December will host primarily Christmas books to celebrate the season more. I am also planning another giveaway so stay tuned!

New Book by Dee Henderson

Hello and welcome to Bookworm,

Found out that Dee Henderson, one of the first Christian authors I've read, has a new book coming out. Her O'Malley Series and Uncommon Heroes Series are really good, some of the best I've read. One of the books in the O'Malley Series won a Christy Award. Both series I would give 5 Worms. They were filled with excitment, mystery, romance, and a coming of faith in each book in those series. There were two other books outside thoses series, one of which I read but wasn't too fond of. But, it is with great anticipation that I am looking forward to her newest book, Full Disclosure, which sounds as good as her O'Malley and Uncommon Heroes Sereis.

RMS Titanic Remembrance

On April 15, 192, the RMS Titanic, the grandest ship of it's time, known as unsinkable, came to rest on the on the Atlantic ocean floor after hitting an iceberg two hours earlier. Warnings had been delivered to the Titanic about ice but they did not listen. After hitting the iceberg, five of its water tight rooms filled when only four rooms could be filled without the ship loosing its equilibrium. Women and children passengers were placed in the lifeboats first but it was known right away their would be enough. There were twenty boats total which could have gotten off over 1,500 people out of the 2,200 passengers and crew aboard. But the boats were not filled to capacity for it was believed another ship was coming to help them. Help was tried to be raised on the telegraph but no one heard, the telegrapher on the closest ship had gone to bed. Only a little over 700 people survived and were rescued in the morning by the Carpathia (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012).

Today is the 100^th year anniversary of this disaster. Let us remember the brave men who gave up lives to in order to give women and children a place in the lifeboats and the women who stayed behind with the ones the loved as well as the souls who got off and told their stories. Let's also remember some of the good that followed this. In 1913 the first ever International Conference for Safety of Life at Sea was held and new rules, such as enough lifeboats for each person, a twenty-four hour radio watch be held, and lifeboat drills are done on each voyage. An international Ice Patrol was also launched to warn ships and brake the ice (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012). Let us remember these things today and honor the memory of the men, women, and crew who lost their lives on board the RMS Titanic and those who survived.
